Great news for those who have tickets and a pity for those who maybe were expecting to just turn up at the door.
Looking forward to a great evening.

We are pleased to announce the big event of the year for the band.
on Sunday 11th December there will be a mass at 12 noon in Blessed John Duns Scotus followed by the launch of our new tartan in the adjacent hall. The band will be presented with kilts in the new St Francis/Franciscan tartan and will perform in them for the first time. Its a wee bit of history.
It is open to all and in particular local people of the Gorbals area of all denominations and none. We'd also love to see as many former members in attendance.
Its a community celebration for the longest running musical group in the area. Its not many make it to 90 years after all!
Join us and support the band. Contact us for more details and also if you are looking to attend so that we know how many people to expect.

As were the collecting cans after another successful process around as much of the Gorbals as we can manage in the near three hours of japery and playing. It was a mild and dry day for us and a great turnout of band members and supporters added to the festive revellry. We are grateful once more to the generous people of the area for continuing to express their support for the band. Our total collected this year was a new record of just over £1000. Really amazing. We are sure to put this to good use in the coming anniversary year as we try to build on all the work we do locally. Thanks again and a Happy New Year to all when it comes.

Our annual St Andrews Ceilidh was a another resounding success with a near full hall and a busy bar. The dance floor was busy almost from the start and the bands performance was very well received. The raffle was verging on the contraversial and the buffet went down a treat judging by the enpty servers and the lack of grub left for the band after playing! With opportunities for the punters to buy some of the home made tablet or win the hand Knitted Piper then there was a lot packed into the evening. Our thanks go out to all who supported us in this successful evening including the John & Martin for running the bar and John Clancy at the Laurieston Bar for their continued support. Thanks to all and see you all again next year we hope.

After much planning and expectation the Bands long awaited trip to Assisi was fulfilled and enjoyed not only by the band members themselves but also the countless locals in Assisi and visiting tourists to the town during this significant period for the town. The feast of St Francis is marked by a festival including performances of medieval music amongst other things. With brilliant weather and a great spririt combined it is hoped that this may have been a positive experience and the beginning of more visits to what can be construed as the source of the band.
The trip was from the 2-7th October and included performances not only in the historic town square but others in and around the area.
They now know that there is a band from Glasgow that carries the name of St Francis. Mission accomplished! More images and text will be available shortly in our gallery.

Another day we went tae Rothesay oh!
Another brilliant end tae the competition season. The sun did shine, the gazebo did rise, the hot dogs became cup dogs, the catering was well organised otherwise!
We managed to pick up a fifth placed prize which helps towards the bus cost. A busy bus indeed with 7 or 8 nationalities represented. A sing song which will be well remembered by those unaccustomed tae just boisterousness even from the driver. Top marks for an engaging roundabout performance!
Oh and then there was Mrs Foy's Tablet....

Though our preparation for this years event was a bit late we were committed to following through on this our home contest.
The somewhat homely weather was to prove a major issue for the band and did not allow us to give of our best, though with the input of Donald Gibson of Mcleods Highland Supplies the pipers at least were sounding much improved.
A dampened oerformance could not affect our enthusiasm in a similar manner and we move on with the next contest at Rothesay an opportunity to end the season on a hopefully drier note or two!

As part of the Commonwealth Games Festival 2014 programme for five sell out nights we performed an introductory procession leading the audience along Errol Gardens to the performance area in the Old Gorbals Burial Ground in the Gorbals.
The specially commissioned piece of music with drum corp accompaniement which we performed 'The Thunderbird Arrives"was to set the tone of the overall performance peice which was a collaboration with the First Nation storytellers from Manitoulin Island, Canada known as Debajemujig as well as a cast of 150 people with a significant input from the Gorbals community.
Aside from the seasonably wet weather the ambitious project was an outstanding success with our part of the performance delivered effectively and musically aside from the techincal and logistical challenges of what we were trying to acheive.
